Crookston-The Pirates take a first round win with a score of four to zero against the Park Rapids Panthers.

The Pirates came out strong to start the 2012-2013 Section 8A playoffs on the right foot and try to compete for the Section 8A championship. The Pirates outshot the Panthers big time with posting fifteen shots to Park Rapids four shots on Panthers goaltender Shania Johnson (Jr., Goalie) and Pirate Goaltender Lexie Cormican (8^th grade., Goalie) and adding one goal. In the second period the Pirates outshot the Panthers again with the shots being ten to six and adding another goal in the period. In the third period the Pirates outshot the Panthers again by posting another ten shots to Park Rapids one shot and adding two goals to get a total of thirty-five shots total in the game and a score of four to zero. The Panthers did come out against the Pirates and battle but they could not get a puck pasted Pirate goaltender Lexie Cormican (8^th grade., Goalie).

The Pirates get there first playoff win bring their overall record to (13-11-0) two games above .500 and their playoff record to (1-0-0). This is the best record for the Pirate so far this year as they have not been much higher than two games above.500 in the 2012-2013 season.

The Pirates advance in the Section 8A playoffs and will be facing the five-time defending Section 8A champions the Warroad Warriors on Monday, February 11, 2013 with the drop of the puck at 6:00pm at the East Grand Forks Civic Center. Following the Pirate/Warrior game will be the number two and number three seeds the Thief River Falls Prowlers and the East Grand Forks Greenwave also battling to get to the Section 8A playoffs to either play the Pirates or the Warriors.

Notes:

The Pirates were lead by Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) who had all of the four goals for the Pirates and had no assists. The Pirates were also lead by Lexie Cormican (8^th grade., Goalie) who got her third shutout of the season and saving eleven of the Panther shots.

The Panthers were lead by Shania Johnson (Jr., Goalie) who had thirty-one saves for the Panthers and kept the Pirates to only four goals in the game.

East Grand Forks- The Greenwave come out strong against the Pirates to take the number three seed in the Section 8A playoffs and get the victory of a score of five to one.

The Greenwave came out strong and looked like they really wanted to have that number three seed and play the number six seed the Lake of the Woods Bears at home in East Grand Forks on Thursday, February 7,2013 and that is just what they did. The Greenwave outshot the Pirates nine shots to the Pirates two shots in the first period. In the second the Greenwave came out and put thirteen shots on Pirate goaltender Lexie Cormican (8^th grade., Goalie) and the Pirates only had five shots in the second period. In the third period the Pirates came out a little stronger to outshot the Greenwave by one shot with the shots being five to four in the third period. The Greenwave also posted two goals in the first period, two goals in the second period, and one goal in the third period take make the score five to one and take the split this season with the Pirates.

The Pirates are now back at .500 again with an overall record of (11-11-0) and a Final Greater Minnesota Conference record of (4-9-0). The Warroad Warriors take the Greater Minnesota Conference for the 2012-2013 season.

Next for the Pirate will be a nonconference game against the Northern Lakes Lighting at the Crookston Sports Center. The drop of the puck will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 2,2013.

The Pirates were lead by Lexie Cormican (8^th grade., Goalie) who stopped twenty-six shots that the Greenwave put on her in the five to one loss. The Pirate only goal was scored by Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) who had one goals and no assists.

The Greenwave were lead by CoCo Piche (Jr., Forward) who had two goals and one assist for the Greenwave. Also scoring for the Greenwave were Haley Mack (Fresh., Forward), Alexa Mack (Soph., Forward), and Erica Eades (Fresh., Forward) all of these girls had one goal and no assists except for Alexa Mack (Soph., Forward) who had one assists. The Greenwave were lead in assists by Mak Langei (8^th grade., Defense) who had three assists for the Greenwave.
