Saturday, January 16th

The FIRE lost to a very good Breck team 7-0.  Carly Bergstrom stopped 42 of 49 shots faced and had several acrobatic saves.  The girls played very hard and never quit. 

Tuesday, January 12

The FIRE beat Robinnsdale Cooper 2-0 giving them a 10-7 record.  Carly Bergstrom stopped all 23 shots for her 4th shutout on the season.  Kelsey Peters scored the game winner and Abbey Matheson added the insurance goal in the third with a nicely set up play by Christie Wirth.

Saturday, January 9

The girls traveled to Luverne, MN to claim their 9th victory of the season winning 5-0.  Jaci Reinke led the team with two goals.  8 different players had points in the win.  Carly Bergstrom stopped all 16 shots faced to earn her 3rd shutout of the season.

Wednesday, December 30th

The girls won their 3rd game in a row beating Rapid City, SD 5-3 to claim 1st place in the Waseca Holiday tournament. Abbey Matheson scored the opening goal, Abigail New had 1G and 1A, Megan Burke had 2 goals(1 short-handed and 1 on the power play) and Kelsey Peters netted the eventual game winner late in the second period.  Brooke Weinzierl and Jenna Sik each had one assist, and Jaci Reinke had 2 assists in the victory.  The win moves the FIRE to a 8-7 overall record.

Tuesday, December 29th

The girls won the second game of the tournament handily beating Windom 9-0 out shooting them 55-8.  Carly Stockert earned her first varsity win with a shutout making 8 saves.  Like the previous game many different players contributed in the win.  Jaci Reinke (3G), Christie Wirth (2G), Megan Burke (2G), Carly Taylor (1 G), Chelsea Wickenhauser (1G), Wllie Wanshura (1G), Abigail New(2A), Brooke Weinzierl(1A), Abbey Matheson(1A), Kelsey Burmeister (1A), Jenna Sik (1A), Megan Bunker (2A), Paige Ehalt (1A), and had Kelsey Peters (1A).

Monday, December 28th

The girls won the opening game of the Waseca tournament beating the host team Waseca 9-2.  Many players contributed in the win..Jaci Reinke(1G 1A), Brooke Weinzierl(2G), Abigail New (2G), Jamie Kichler (1G), Megan Burke (1G), Kelsey Peters(1 G), Megan Bunker(1G), Christie Wirth (3A), Abbey Matheson (2A) and Kelsey Burmeister (1A).

Tuesday, December 22nd

The FIRE lost to Richfield 1-0 in a well played game.  We outshot Richfield 21-13 and controlled play, but could not find the back of the net.

Saturday, December 19th

The girls beat Redwood Valley 11-0.  Megan Burke had a hat trick and an assist.  Abigail New had 2 goals and an assist, Carly Taylor had 2 goals and 2 assists, Kelsey Peters had 1 goal and 3 assists, Chrisite Wirth had 1 goal and 3 assists, Abbey Matheson had a goal, Ellie Wanshura scored her first varsity goal and Jamie Kichler and Haley Sites each had 1 assist.

Friday, December 18th

The girls played very well giving the defending state champs everything we could ask of them.  We entered the 3rd period down 5-1 having had some missed opportunities on the power play to make it closer in the second period.  Blake's high powered offense took over in the 3rd period making the most of their scoring opportunities.  Brooke Weinzierl had our lone goal with an assist to Abigail New.

Tuesday, December 15th

The FIRE lost to the Minneapolis Novas 4-1.  The girls came out and played very well in the first period, but could not get on the scoreboard until the third period when Carly Taylor scored with assists from Christie Wirth and Megan Burke.  Carly Bergstrom stopped 40 of 44 shots in the loss.

Saturday, December 12th

The girls lost a tough game to the St. Paul Blades team.  It was a very evenly matched game.  We had many opportunities to score, but could not find the back of the net.  We outshot the Blades 28-20, but lost 5-3,with an empty net goal at the end of the game.  Kelsey Burmeister, Abigail New and Christie Wirth netted our goals, with Kelsey Peters and Megan Bunker adding one assist each.

Thursday, December 10th

The FIRE lost to a very strong Breck team 10-0.  The girls played hard the whole game and never gave up.  

Saturday, December 5th

The FIRE win their first ever conference game against the Minnehaha Saints 1-0, giving them a 4-2 overall record(1-1 conference).  It was a well fought, back and forth game, with both games having many scoring chances.  Carly Bergstrom stopped alll 27 shots she faced for her first shutout of the season.  Jenna Sik netted the game winner with 3:34 left in the third period with the lone assist going to Kelsey Burmeister.  Congrats girls!!

Thursday, Decemeber 3rd

The FIRE lost their conference opener 8-2 to a very good St. Paul United team.  After a slow start the girls played with a lot of energy for the last two periods.  Fire goals were scored by Brooke Weinzierl and Megan Burke.

Monday, November 30th

The fire wins 4-1 over St. Louis Park, moving them to a 3-1 record on the year.  Carly Bergstrom stopped 31 of 32 shots to win her 3rd game of the season.  After a sluggish first period the girls picked up the tempo and were able to put some points on the scoreboard.  Kelsey Burmeister had 2 goals, Megan Burke recorded her first goal of the season, and Brooke Weinzierl netted the game winning goal midway through the second period for her t goal of the season.

 

November 24th, 2009

The Fire lost 4-2 to a solid Princeton club.  The girls battled back after being down 3-0 after the first period to make it 3-2 late in the 3rd period.  Abigail New scored with assists from Brooke Weinzierl and Kelsey Peters.  Kelsey Burmeister scored her first ever varsity goal in the 3rd to make it 3-2 with an assist from Jenna Sik.  Carly Bergstrom stopped 19 of 23 shots.  

On Saturday November 21, 2009 the FIRE recorded their second victory of the season defeating the Bulldogs of St. Peter/LeSueur-Henderson-Montgomery/Lonsdale 2-1 at LeSueur Community Center.  The girls rallied from being down 1-0 after two periods to scoring two goals in the third period.  Kelsey Peters scored the game-tying goal unassisted on a nice rush up the ice and Abigail New scored the game winner with 2:30 left in the third on a nice set up from Carly Taylor.  The girls stayed patient and knew they would have more chances after out shooting the Bulldogs 50-13 for the game.  Carly Bergstrom stopped 12 of 13 shots in her second win of the season.

On, November 17, 2009 the HF/Waconia girls hockey team recorded their first Varsity win ever as a program, beating the Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato Dragons 5-1 on the road.  Led by two goals from senior Christie Wirth and a goal each from Jaci Reinke, Shania Gonzales(first varsity goal), and Mackenzie Ronnkvist(first Varsity goal).  Carly Bergstrom stopped 6 of 7 shots, while the FIRE put 55 shots on the LDC goaltender.
