Schammel opened up the scoring for Red Wing, popping in her first goal of the evening 4 minutes, 20 seconds into the game. Haley had an assist on the play. Thirty-five seconds into the second, Haley put the Wingers up 2-0, scoring off an assist by linemate Emily Stegora.
Then in the third, Red Wing throttled the United to the tune of four goals by Katelyn Hadler, Schammel, Haley and Stegora. Haley had a team-high five points in the win (two goals, three assists) while Schammel had four points (two goals, two assists). Stegora also added a pair of helpers in the victory.
After opening the season with two games on the road, the Wingers (2-0-0) will host Mahtomedi on Tuesday for their first home game.
