She plays with fierce intensity and has led us through the toughest schedule in program history. When she is in the net everyone plays with so much more confidence knowing she’s going to pick us up and come through for us every time we need her. Goals are so hard to come by in practice which has allowed us to develop more consistent goal scoring against other goalies because if a shot gets by her, it will get by everyone else too. That has been our mindset as shooters and that is a direct result of the way she practices, and the way she pushes her teammates forward. We have taken significant steps forward this year, and one of, if not the biggest reason for that, is Kayla Simonson.” – Head Coach Lance Reynolds
