Tim was a 1982 graduate of St Cloud State. He became assistant boy’s coach in the Fridley Varsity Program from 1993-’95. Tim started the girl’s program and began coaching girls hockey at Totino Grace High School in 1995. He coached there until 2001, before taking over the Eden Prairie Program in the Lake Conference from 2001 through 2011. Tim has been an assistant coach at Blaine High School since that time. His Eden Prairie teams won the state tournament twice, in 2006 and 2008. In their other two state tournament appearances Tim’s teams finished third in 2004, and fourth in 2003. He was Section 6AA Coach of the Year in 2003, ‘05, ‘06, and 3M Coach of the year in 2010. He was the Lake Conference Coach Award winner in 2005, ‘06, ‘07, and ‘08. In his time at Eden Prairie his teams produced 22 Division-1 players and many Division-3 players as well. He had six Academic Section Championship teams (3 at Totino-Grace & 3 at Eden Prairie) and three State Champions, all three at Totino-Grace. His time at Totino-Grace also produced three Division-1 players. Tim has an overall record as a head girl’s high school coach of 294-126-15. Other head coaching experience includes Team Minnesota in 2004 and 2005, international hockey trips to such places as New Zealand, Austria, and the Czech Republic, in 1991, ‘92, ‘95, and 2000. Premier Prep League Coach in 1998, ‘99, ‘00, and ‘01. He is currently the hockey school director and coach for Eagle Hockey STP from 2001 to the present, and Canadian Professional Hockey School staff in 1994, ‘96, ‘97, ‘98, ‘99. Tim was the president of the MGHCA from 2001-’04, and Executive Director from 2004 to the present. He was the program chair to oversee all events and off season programs sponsored by the MGHCA, including the Senior Classic, Junior Fest, Development Camp, and Elite II league. He was program director for the MN. Hockey HP Festival and Camp in 2011, ‘12. Tim was Program Director and GM for the Minnesota Hockey Girls High School NIT tournament from 2011 to the present. He has his USA Hockey CEP Master Level Certification. Tim is known as a ‘get things done’ type of guy, and a staunch defender of girl’s programs. He began, developed, nurtured and improved the MGHCA web site as a tool for communication, program development, and achievement recognition, along with history, data, and up to date team characteristics and statistics. He handles all coaches association data, revenue, and communication. He organizes forums, groups, committees, and programs, all while having a high degree of success as a coach. His desire is to see girls hockey grow. Tim and his wife Nora have four children: son Mickey, his wife Joan, and grandson Nolan; son Shane, daughter Tera, her husband Jeff and grandson Riley, and daughter Kelly.
