OWATONNA — Cailyn McCauley scored two goals and had two assists as the Owatonna girls hockey team strengthened its grip on a second straight Big Nine Conference title.

The Huskies scored two quick power-play goals and cruised to a 5-0 victory over Albert Lea on Thursday at the Four Seasons Centre.

Owatonna eliminated every team except Rochester Mayo in the Big Nine title hunt with four conference games left to play for the Huskies (9-0 Big Nine, 14-4 overall).

Emily Cochran and Paige Lysne both scored power play goals moments after the Tigers were called for penalties, and OHS didn’t send a single skater to the box. Owatonna out-shot Albert Lea 52-17.

“This team, they’re not caring who is getting the credit,” OHS coach Tim Hunst said. “They’re just finding ways to win. They’re playing well and we’re celebrating a lot.”

OHS plays at home again at 1 p.m. Saturday against the River Lakes Stars.

OHS scoring: First period—Emily Cochran (Cailyn McCauley, Paige Lysne) 7:50 (pp); McCauley (Lysne); Second period—Lysne (McCauley) :17 (pp); McCauley (Lysne, Payton Noble) 16:18; Third period—Noble (Lysne, McCauley) 11:00. OHS goalie: Keshia Reuvers 17 saves.
