The third-ranked (1A) Wingers were unable to score on the power play, but were able to generate offense while short-handed, as Reagan Haley scored a pair of short-handed goals in the victory.

Just 1 minute, 7 seconds into Tuesday’s game, Nicole Schammel put Red Wing ahead with an unassisted goal. Despite out-shooting the Lakers 20-7 in the first 17 minutes, the score remained at 1-0 until the second period. At 2:52 in the second, Schammel added her second goal off assists from Reagan and Paige Haley.

With Paige Haley serving a two-minute penalty for slashing, her little sister Reagan was able to drive the puck in on an unassisted short-handed goal to put the Wingers up 3-0 at the 5:31 mark of the second period.

In the third period, with Maddie Flack in the penalty box, Reagan Haley popped in her second short-handed goal off a pass from Schammel to build a 4-0 lead.

Red Wing goaltender Ashley Corcoran recorded her second shutout of the season, finishing with 22 saves. Prior Lake goalie Lexi Brandt had 40 saves in the loss.

The Wingers (20-2) return home Thursday to host Farmington in a Missota Conference matchup.
