New Prague goaltender Shyler Sletta was named a finalist for the Let's Play Hockey senior goalie of the year award Thursday, but that didn't scare the Wingers as they beat the Trojans 4-1 at Prairie Island Arena.

Sletta, who has a save percentage of .923, will be taking her talents to the University of Minnesota next season.

"She's a tremendous goalie and we just focused on taking quality shots and not just a lot of shots," Red Wing coach Scott Haley said.

Haley also noted that the Wingers' scouting report was to shoot for the corners. Three of Red Wing's four goals came in the high corners of the net.

Nicole Schammel and Paige Haley each netted a pair of goals for Red Wing. Schammel has scored multiple goals in eight of the last nine games and her season total of 39 goals puts her eighth in the state.

Red Wing goalie Lisa Nibbe was pulled after one period of Tuesday's game, but she responded with a solid performance Thursday. She stopped 19 of 20 New Prague shots.

Not only was it a big conference win for Red Wing -- which is now tied for fourth in the Missota with Northfield -- it was a win against a quality section opponent. The Wingers' only section loss was to Northfield.

Red Wing (11-12-1 overall, 4-7-1 Missota) will play its final regular season game Saturday at home against Dodge County.
