The Wingers lost the Missota Conference game 6-5.

(I'm) really happy with the effort and the way they played, especially in the second and third period," Red Wing coach Scott Haley said. "They made it interesting."

Lisa Nibbe started in goal but was pulled after one period. Red Wing was down 4-1 when Quinn McGough relieved Nibbe in the second period.

"Quinn did a great job coming in and shoring things up," Haley said.

McGough faced 11 shots and allowed three goals. Each team fired 28 shots on goal.

Nicole Schammel picked up two goals. Cori Fairbanks, Emily Stegora and Reagan Haley also scored. Paige Haley played after suffering a knee injury Thursday but coach Haley said his daughter was "not quite" 100 percent.

Red Wing (10-12-1 overall, 3-7-1 Missota) plays host Thursday to New Prague.
