OWATONNA — The current Huskies showed the future Huskies how it’s done.
Owatonna shut out Dodge County 6-0 on Girls’ Hockey Day Saturday at the Four Seasons Centre. Girls hockey players of all ages played throughout the day.
The final game of the night was a section showdown between the Huskies and Wildcats.
Dodge County stuck with Owatonna early and trailed 1-0 after one period. Ninth-grader Payton Noble scored the first-period goal.
Noble added her second goal of the game early in the second period. Seniors Cailyn McCauley and Paige Lysne also scored in the second as Owatonna led 4-0 going into the final period.
Lysne and ninth-grader Abby Sawyer extended the lead.
Owatonna goalie Keshia Reuvers stopped all 12 shots.
The Huskies (12-4 overall) will play another nonconference game on Monday when New Ulm comes to the Four Seasons Centre for a 7:45 game.
