Spring Lake Park goalie Katie Bassett keeps score close

The final score was not indicative of the action that took place on the ice, as the Red Knights defeated Spring Lake Park 2-0.  BSM outshot the Panthers 62-4 for the game, but managed to only get 2 goals by Spring Lake Park goalie Katie Bassett, who was sensational in net.  Sara Taffe scored a first period powerplay goal from Caitlin Reilly, midway through the period.  It took 49 more shots before the Red Knights would get their second and final goal of the contest with 1:53 remaining in the third period on a rebound shot by Brittany Wheeler from Kelly Pannek and Caitlin Reilly.

Caitlin Reilly extended her scoring streak to 13 straight games.  Kelly Pannek had an opportunity to score an empty net goal at the end of the game, which would have extended her goal scoring streak, but she instead decided to simply run out the clock, a very sportsmanlike gesture.  Tiana Press was in net for the victory and the shutout.  The Red Knights have now extended their shutout streak to 203.16 straight minutes.

BSM will next play at Schwan's Super Rink against Irondale, who is currently undefeated in conference play on Tuesday night in a battle for first place in the North Suburban Conference.
