OWATONNA — It was a good night to be named Paige.

Owatonna senior Paige Lysne scored a goal on her 18th birthday, and freshman Paige Radue scored her first career goal as the Huskies girls hockey team cruised by Mankato West 5-0 on Tuesday at the Four Seasons Centre.

Lysne got the Huskies (4-0 Big Nine, 6-2 overall) off to a quick start with a sniper shot from just inside the blue line 1:50 into the game.

“That was a nice little birthday present for her,” OHS coach Tim Hunst said. “That really got us going.”

Radue made it 2-0 Owatonna later in the first period when she knocked in a rebound on a shot by Kelsey Rohrig. Ashley Kniefel put the Huskies up by three before the first intermission.

Cailyn McCauley scored twice in the second period to finish the scoring, and OHS goalie Keshia Reuvers stopped 23 shots to get the shutout.

OHS will next play on Tuesday in the first round of the Burnsville Tournament.

OHS scoring: First period—Paige Lysne (Genny Caswell) 1:50; Paige Radue (Kelsey Rohrig, Abby Sawyer) 13:55; Ashley Kniefel (Taylor Disher) 15:42; Second period—Cailyn McCauley (Radue) 10:30; McCauley (Sawyer) 12:44. OHS goalie: Keshia Reuvers 23 saves.
