Caitlin Reilly's 4 goals lead the way

The Red Knights dominated the game from the outset and easily defeated Grand Rapids 7-2. BSM surrendered their first goal allowed in the first period this season on a shot by Molly Illikainen on the powerplay midway through the opening period. It was the only goal of the period. The Red Knights went on a tear the last 2 periods, outshooting the Lightning 38-8, including a 22-2 second period advantage. Caitlin Reilly got BSM even at 4:05 of the middle period with assists to defensemen Sara Taffe (her first of 3 in the game) and Madeline Carras. Brittany Wheeler put the Red Knights ahead on the powerplay a couple of minutes later on a feed from Jordyn Burns. Sara Taffe connected again with Caitlin Reilly at the 12:49 mark for what turned out to be the game winner. Kelly Pannek finished the second period scoring with just 39 seconds remaining from Sara Taffe and Cat Kernan. With a 4-1 lead after the middle frame, the onslaught continued into the third period after the Red Knights gave up their second powerplay goal of the game to Grand Rapids. Caitlin Reilly and Kaylee Druk scored 32 seconds apart to put the game out of reach 6-2. Assists on these goals went to Cat Kernan, Kelly Pannek, and Brittany Wheeler. The final goal was scored again by Caitlin Reilly shorthanded from Kelly Pannek at 14:44 of the period. Tiana Press turned aside 9 of 11 shots. The Red Knights will travel to Cloquet for a Saturday afternoon game to complete their northern road trip.
