Even a January rain storm didn't stop the St. Paul Blades from taking on the Minnehaha Saints in the first of what we hope to be a long tradition of outdoor games between these two teams.

During the sopping wet first period, the play went back and forth as players struggled to get the puck moving around the puddles on the ice.  By the end of the first period, every player had water in their skates, but the Blades were up 1:0.

The rain let up a bit for the rest of the game, and the guys at the North Dale rink in St. Paul did their best to shovel off the slush from the rink.  As the conditions got better, so did the Blades.  Led with a hat trick by junior Samantha Berger, the Blades won the game 4:1 and took home the inaugural hockey day trophy!
