Halbrehder Named Brano Stankovsky Award Winner

Bill Halbrehder, former MGHCA President and North St Paul girls hockey coach, was named the 2014 Brano Stankovsky Award recipient. He was chosen from a group of very deserving candidates for his service to MGHCA programs and the MGHCA board of directors. He was instrumental in getting the Hall of Fame program up and running with the first inductees being this past October. Bill had served as the President-Elect, President and Past-President of the girls hockey coaches association for the last six years. He has also served on the MSHSL Advisory Committee during that time as well. Bill is always trying to find ways to improve the girls high school game. In addition to his leadership with the MGHCA, Bill has also participated on the MSHSL All-Tournament Team selection committee and the Herb Brooks Award selection commmittee and has been a tournament Section Manager for many years.

The Brano Stankovsky Award, named in honor of long-time Blake School head coach, is given to one person annually who has provided leadership and support to the growth and betterment of high school girls hockey, the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association, or the programs administered by the MGHCA, the Minnesota State High School League or Minnesota Hockey. Deserving individuals will have a displayed dedication, selflessness and passion for any of the activities in which they are or have been involved with.

The inaugural recipient was Tim Morris who received tha award in 2013. Congratulations to Bill Halbrehder for his selection as this year's Brano Stankovsky Award winner.
