Girls Hockey: Wingers drop second-straight game

Red Wing started and ended well, with goals from Reagan Haley and Lexi Stewart. But Blake scored five goals in between to take a top-5 matchup Saturday, 5-2.

Haley scored 8 minutes, 12 seconds into the game to give the Wingers a 1-0 lead. But the Bears scored twice before the end of the period to take a one-goal advantage into the first intermission.

Karlie Lund scored the only goal of the second period, giving Blake a 3-1 lead into the third period where the Bears scored twice in the first 10:05 to stretch their lead to 5-1.

Stewart score with 11:05 to go to provide the final score.

Nicole Schammel and Carley Marty had assists in the game, while Ashley Corcoran made 34 saves in the loss.

Top-ranked Red Wing (7-2-0) will travel to Farmington (2-6-1) Tuesday. The Wingers, losers of two straight, will try and get back in the win column against the Tigers before Thursday’s road trip to Orono (6-4-0).
