Pirates get a nonconference win with a score of five to one

Crookston- The Pirate take a nonconference victory with a score of five to one against the Northern Lakes Lighting.

The Pirates took the loss against Section 8A rival East Grand Forks Greenwave behide them and took care of the Northern Lakes Lighting to the end the 2012-2013 regular season before heading into the 2012-2013 Section 8A playoffs. The Pirates came out firing by posting nineteen shots on the Northern Lakes goaltender Kat Jenson (Sr., Goalie) and adding three goals in the first period. In the second period the Lighting came out and did some shooting as they actually outshot the Pirates in the second period by one with the shots being seven to six and the Lighting also added one goal in the second period too. In the third period the Pirates came out and outshot the Lighting with the shots being seven to four and adding two goals in the third to get the nonconference win.

The Pirates are now above .500 with an overall record of (12-11-0) and head into the Section 8A playoffs with a win.

Next for the Pirates will be the Park Rapids Panthers in the 2012-2013 Section 8A playoffs as the Pirates got the number four seed in the playoffs and the Panthers got the number five seed for the Section 8A playoffs.

Notes:

The Pirates were lead by Natasha Skala (Sr., Defense) and Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) with both girls having two goals apiece and no assists except for Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) who had one assist for the Pirates. Also scoring for the Pirates was Sabrina Delmore (Fresh., Forward) who had one goal and no assists for the Pirates.

The Northern Lakes Lighting were lead by Kayla Eggena (Sr., Forward) who had one goal and no assists for the Lighting. Also leading the Lighting was goaltender Kat Jensen (Sr., Goalie) who stopped thirty-two shots that the Pirates had on Jensen.
