Paige Haley Ms. Hockey semifinalist

RED WING — Red Wing senior Paige Haley has been named among the 10 semifinalists for the 2013 Ms. Hockey Award.

Haley has played in 23 games and scored 54 points, including 17 goals and 37 assists. She has committed to play next year at the University of Minnesota.

 

The Wingers are 21-2. They played Northfield on Thursday and close out the regular season Saturday at Simley.

Other Ms. Hockey Award semifinalists include Laura Bowman, forward from Minnesota; Dani Cameranesi, forward from Blake; Kate Flug, forward from Roseville Area; Kayla Gardner, forward from Warroad; Lisa Marvin, forward from Warroad; Amy Menke, forward from Shakopee; Sidney Morin, defenseman from Minnetonka; Kate Schipper, forward from Breck; and Megan Wolfe, forward from Eagan.

All 10 are committed to Division I schools next season, including nine in the WCHA. Joining Haley at Minnesota will be Cameranesi, Flug, Schipper and Wolfe.

Gardner, Marvin and Menke will play at North Dakota; Bowman at Penn State and Morin at Minnesota-Duluth.

The 10 players have scored an average of 25 goals, with 26 assists. They have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.57.

The semifinalists for Let's Play Hockey Senior Goalie of the Year Award are Cassie Alexander, Lakeville North; Katie Beckman, Cloquet/Esko/Carlton; Erin Deters, Sartell/Sauk Rapids; Casey Hartfiel, Orono; Lindsey Hartfiel, Buffalo; Dayton Hilgert, Warroad; McKenzie Johnson, Eden Prairie; Sydney Rossman, Minnetonka; Abbi White, Forest Lake; and Alexys Woodwad, Hill-Murray.

The five finalists for the Senior Goalie of the Year Award will be named in the Feb. 7 edition of Let's Play Hockey, while the five Ms. Hockey Award finalists will be named in the Feb. 14 edition. The winners of both awards will be announced on Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet at the St. Paul RiverCentre.
