Crookston-The Thief River Falls Prowlers sweep the Pirates in Section 8A play with another win tonight with a score of four to two.

Both teams came out playing sluggish but posted one goal apiece in the first period but in the second period Prowler’s Kora Torkelson (8^th grade., Forward) ripped a shot pasted Pirate goaltender Lexie Cormican (8^th grade., Goalie) to put the Prowlers ahead two to one in the second period. After that it was all Prowlers posting ten shots in the second and ten shots in the third with one goal in the second and two.

The Pirates are now on a two game losing streak which is the first time all season the Pirates have lost two games in a row against two tough opponents one from Section 8AA and one from Section 8A. The Pirates now have an overall record of (9-10-0) and (3-8-0) in Greater Minnesota Conference standings.

The Pirates with take the long trek north to Baudette, MN to take on the Lake of the Woods Bears another Section 8A opponent on Saturday, January 26, 2013 with a game time of 1:00pm.

The Pirates were lead by Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) who had all two goals for the Pirates and no assists. Lizzy Awender (Jr., Foorward) had the only Pirate assist on the night. Lexie Cormican (8^th grade., Goalie) made 20 saves tonight for the Pirates.

The Prowlers were lead by Brandi Malwitz (Jr., Forward) who had two goals and no assists for the Prowlers. Sylvia Marolt (Soph., Forward) and Kora Torkelson (8^th grade., Forward) both girls had one goal for the Prowlers and Sylvia had two assists.
