Bemidji Ladyjacks sweep the Pirates with an overtime goal

Bemidji- The Ladyjacks sweep the Pirates this season both in overtime with a three to two overtime win tonight in Bemidji.

The game was a very even game with neither team scoring in the first period but then in the second period the Ladyjacks came alive by putting two goals past Pirate goaltender Lexie Cormican (8th grade., Goalie) and none in the third but in the overtime period Megan Dondelinger (Soph., Forward) put the puck in the net to seal the victory for the Ladyjacks. Even though it was a close game the shots were also close for the Pirates and the Ladyjacks with the Pirates having twenty-one shots and the Ladyjacks with nineteen shots. The Pirates tried to battle hard to try and beat the Ladyjacks on their home turf but the the Ladyjacks came out with an overtime goal to sweep the Pirates in the 2012-2013 season. This was another Greater Minnesota Conference loss for the Pirates which brings them back to .500 on the season with an overall record of (9-9-0) and a Greater Minnesota Conference record of (3-8-0).

Next game for the Pirates will be at home against Section 8A opponent Thief River Falls Prowlers which was change from Tuesday, January 22, 2013 to Friday, January 25, 2013 at 5:00pm due to the Crookston Sports Center having difficulty with their cooling system to keep the ice frozen.

Notes:

The Pirates were lead by Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) who had the Pirates two goals and no assists in the game. The Ladyjacks were lead by Megan Dondelinger (Soph., Forward) who had two goals and one assists including the overtime goal for the Ladyjacks. Pirate goaltender Lexie Cormican (8th grade., Goalie) who made twenty-seven saves for the Pirates.
