Pirates gets third Greater Minnesota Conference win

Crookston-The Pirates get their third Greater Minnesota Conference win by beating the Detroit Lakes Lakers tonight by a score of six to one.

The Pirates came out strong by scoring their first goal with seventeen seconds into the first period to make it one to zero. The Pirates then scored two more goals in the first period to make it three to zero at the end of period one. The Pirates also came out firing as the put up forty-eight shots compared to Detroit Lakes’s twenty-two shots on the Pirate goaltender Lexie Cormican (8th grade., Goalie). The Pirates now are one game above .500 with a regular season record of 9-8-0 and are now 3-6-0 in the Greater Minnesota Conference.

The next game for the Pirates will be Section 8A and Greater Minnesota Conference opponent the Thief River Falls Prowlers here in Crookston at 7:30pm at the Crookston Sports Center.

Notes:

The Pirates were lead by Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) who scored three goals and no assists. Also scoring for the Pirates were Natasha Skala (Sr., Defense) who had one goal and no assists, Amber Trostad (Jr., Forward) who also scored one goal and had no assists, and Sabrina Delmore (Soph., Defense) who also scored one goal and had no assists for the Pirates.

The Lakers were lead by Emily Payne (Sr., Forward) who had one goal and no assists. Also leading the Detroit Lakes Lakers was there sophomore goaltender Veronica Badurek (Soph., Goalie) who stopped 48 shots for the Lakers.
