Panthers 3rd period goal knots game

Spring Lake Park has been a major nemesis for T-G.  Last season the Panthers beat the Eagles both times they faced each other in very close 1 goal games where T-G could have and probably should have won.  The game tonight was another contest where you wondered what it will take to beat Spring Lake Park.  For the third game in a row against the Panthers, the Eagles watched 2nd period leads evaporate.  This time, T-G had to settle for a 2-2 tie.

The Eagles jumped out in front at 6:21 of the first period on a powerplay goal by Kristen Dellich.  For Kristen, it was her team leading 11th goal of the season.  The assist went to Allison Parnell.  Spring Lake Park answered 4 minutes later on an unassisted goal by Kelly Morris.  The game was tied at 1 after 1 period.

T-G caught a break early in the second period when a shot by the Panthers hit the post and crossbar and somehow stayed out of the net.  The Eagles took advantage of this at the 7:50 mark when Catherine Hegedus scored her 3rd goal of the season, with the assist going to Molly Adam.  T-G had a 2-1 lead going into the final period.

Just 9 seconds into the Eagles trying to kill off a penalty, Spring Lake Park tied the game with 8:26 remaining in the 3rd period.  This would be the final scoring play as neither team could notch the game winner in regulation or in overtime.  Shots for the game were 31-23 in favor of the Panthers.

T-G will next travel to East Bethel to take on St. Francis at 3:00pm on Saturday.
