Crookston- The Pirates take on their rival school the East Grand Forks Greenwave for a Section 8A game and won their second Section 8A game with a score of five to three.

The Pirates were led by Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forwad) who had all of the Pirates five goals against the Greenwave. The Greenwave were led by Haley Mack (Fresh., Forward), Karly Nelson (Jr., Defense), and Mak Langei (8th grade, Defense) all of them had one goal a piece to get their three goals that were scored against the Pirates.

With this being a rival game it was!! The Greenwave came out firing which was excepted as Head Coach Jim Scanlan has a great group of girls coming into the 2012-2013 season since last year the Greenwave were a great team towards the end of the season because the Greenwave beat the Pirates in the last game in the 2011-2012 season to get the number three seed in the Section 8A playoffs and the Pirates got the fourth seed. With this being a rivalry game both teams battled hard to get the win but one team would of course come out short and get a lost. The Greenwave came out firing in the first and second periods and start the third period with three to two lead but the Greenwave came out with some penalty trouble and what it seemed like the Greenwave were on the penalty kill the entire third period the Pirates took care of those penalties by scoring three goals of which one of them were a powerplay goal and the rest even strength goals the Pirates came out with the win at the end of the third period with a score of five to three with an open net goal with thirteen seconds left in the game to seal the deal.

The Pirates next games will be at home against Grand Forks and Fargo South in their holiday tournament that they will host on Thursday, December, 27, 2012 and Friday, December, 28, 2012 at the Crookston Sports Center both games being at 7:30pm.
