Julia Cheasick nets first Varsity goal in victory

The Eagles got back on the winning track defeating the St. Louis Park Orioles 3-0.  It was not an artistic game, but a conference win is a conference win.  This game did provide the coaches with an opportunity to play some Varsity players that typically do not get a lot of ice time.

The first period did not produce many quality scoring chances for either team.  It also did not seem that T-G could find any rhythm.  Shots for the period were 9-6 in favor of the Orioles.

The second period started off the same as the first period, but the game seemed to pick up when a shot from the point by St. Louis Park changed direction and was tipped in front and Logan Knip somehow kept the puck out of the net to preserve the scoreless tie.  The Eagles started to press the attack soon afterwards, where 6:56 into the middle frame, Kristen Dellich broke the deadlock putting back a rebound to give T-G a 1-0 lead.  For Kristen, it was her team leading 9th goal of the season.  The assists went to her linemates, Molly Adam and Maddie Javorina.  About 3 minutes later, Amelia Vosen netted her 7th goal of the year on a great tip that came from Claire Hill.  The Eagles had a more comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the 3rd period.

T-G controlled play throughout the final 17 minutes.  Brigitta Zosel broke in behind the Oriole defense but was denied by the St. Louis Park goaltender, as was Maddie Savage just moments later.  With just 3:43 remaining, Julia Cheasick notched her first Varsity goal with the assist going to Allison Parnell.  This completed the scoring.  Shots for the game were 28-21 in favor of the Eagles.  Logan Knip earned her second shutout of the season.

T-G has little time to relish in this victory as they head off Saturday morning to take on Duluth at the Heritage Center at 3:00pm.
