Bemidji Ladyjacks take another Greater Minnesota Conference from the Pirates in Overtime

Crookston- The Crookston Pirates take their second lose in the Greater Minnesota Conference against the Bemidji Ladyjacks in overtime with a score of 5-4.

The Pirates were lead by Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) with two goals and one assist. Sabrina Delmore (Fresh., Defense) and Lizzy Awender (Jr., Forward) both of which had one goal and no assists. The Bemidji Ladyjacks were lead by Karleigh Wolkerstorfer (Sr., Defense) with two goals and one assist. Erin Booth (Sr., Forward), Mackenzie Hietala (Soph., Defense), and Rachel Holm (8th grader., Forward) all with one goal and no assists.

The Pirates were ahead 3-2 heading into the 3rd period when the Ladyjacks came out firing in the 3rd period when Rachel Holm (8th grader., Forward) scored to tied the game up at three just eighteen seconds into the third period. Then Bemidji’s Erin Booth (Sr., Forward) scores a goal to put the Ladyjacks up 4-3 in the 3rd period just 6:33 into the 3rd period. Crookston’s Lizzy Awender (Jr., Forward) scores the tying goal at 14:34 in the 3rd period to force overtime. 3:07 into the overtime Bemidji’s Mackenzie Hietala (Soph., Defense) scored to take the win for the Ladyjacks to make the score 5-4 in overtime.

These two teams will meet again in Janurary for another Greater Minnesota Conference matchup in Bemidji on January 24, 2013 at 7:30pm.

Next for the Pirates will be on December 14, 2012 on the road to Fergus Falls where they will take on the Fergus Fall Otters in a nonconference game at 7:30pm at the Fergus Falls Community Arena.
