Amelia Vosen's record setting night too much for Wildcats

Amelia Vosen put on a performance tonight that has not been accomplished by a T-G player since the 2009-2010 season.  Amelia had 6 points in the game, just 1 point shy of the all-time school record, and 4 goals, again just 1 goal shy of the all-time school record to lead the Eagles to a 7-2 victory over Chisago Lakes.

T-G had numerous chances to get on the board throughout the first period, but it wasn't until the 14:40 mark when Hannah Johnson sent a crossing pass to Amelia at the T-G blueline, and she took it the rest of the way, beating the Wildcats "D" to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.  With just 11 seconds left in the period, after winning the draw in the Chisago Lakes zone, Laura Minkoff fed Amelia in front of the net to put T-G up by 2 after 1 period.  It was a strong period for the Eagles, outshooting the Wildcats 16-3.

Chisago Lakes fought back early in the second when Allison Ives scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead in half.  Allison Parnell answered for T-G midway through the period, with the assists going to Amelia Vosen and Hannah Johnson.  Things would heat up as there were 3 goals scored in the final 4 minutes.  Molly Adam beat Wildcat goaltender Katelyn Sargeant from a feed from Amelia to increase the lead to 4-1.  For Molly, it was her 3rd goal of the season.  Chisago Lakes refused to give up, getting a goal 2 minutes later.  The Eagles responded just 9 seconds after the Wildcats goal with Amelia completing her hat trick after receiving a pass from Laura Minkoff.  For Laura, it was her team leading 7th assist of the season.  T-G had a comfortable 5-2 lead heading into the final period.

The third period did not have much flow, as there were many stoppages.  It seemed that the final score would be what it was when the period started until Eagles forward Molly Adam was whistled for a roughing penalty with just 1:59 remaining.  Instead of T-G just looking to kill off the penalty and go home, they went on the offensive, scoring not 1, but 2 short-handed goals. Amelia notched her 4th goal of the game and 6th of the season from Allison Parnell, and then Allison intercepted a pass and broke in all alone to close out the scoring with an unassisted goal.  For Allison, it was her 7th goal of the season.  The line of Laura Minkoff (2 assists), Allison Parnell (2 goals, 1 assist) and Amelia Vosen (4 goals, 2 assists) combined for 11 points in the contest.  The Eagles outshot Chisago Lakes 35-19 for the game.

T-G will have a short break before hosting the Minneapolis Novas at Parade Ice Garden next Thursday at 7:00pm.
