Thief River Falls- With a slow start for the Pirates this weekend the Pirates did squeeze out a couple of wins to beat the Park Rapids Area Panthers and also the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears. Even though the Pirates started the weekend slow the Pirates did out shot their opponent 50-19 and 48-17.

The Pirates were lead by senior forward Brianna Breiland (Sr., Forward) who had two goals and one assist on Friday night against Park Rapids and six goals and no assist on Saturday afternoon against Eveleth-Gilbert. Helping the Pirates with some of the other goals were Marietta Geist (Fresh., Forward) and Amber Trostad (Jr., Forward) both had one goal on Friday against Park Rapids. On Saturday Breiland scored six of the seven goals for the Pirates while Jayden Allrich (8^th grade, Forward) scored the 7^th goal for the Pirates to make it her first ever career high school goal against Eveleth-Gilbert.

The Pirates had a good weekend in the Thief River Falls holiday classic after coming off a tough 5 to 3 lost two days before the classic against the Thief River Falls Prowlers. The Pirates took a sweep in the classic by beating Park Rapids Area Panthers (a Section 8A opponent the Pirates will see again) 4 to 2 and beating Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears 7 to 1.

The Pirates will have a week off before taking on another Section 8A and current Section A State Champions the Warroad Warriors on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 up in Warroad, MN at the Gardens Arena.
