Tartan Hockey improved to a 2-2 record with a win over River Lakes.  Tartan came out strong in the first period putting 7 shots on the River Lakes net.  Tartan's first goal came shorthanded when 8th grader Maddie Ciolkosz took a shot from her point and it deflected in. Less than four minutes later, sophomore Ellie Tabaka picked up a rebound in front of the net and put it in to give Tartan a 2-0 lead.  River Lakes took a major and misconduct penalty for checking from behind, but Tartan could not capitalize on this opportunity.  The score remained 2-0 going into the first intermission.  Three minutes into the second period and once again on the power play, freshman Marissa Anitzberger scored her second goal of the season when a shot by Jaimee Nowicki rebounded to the left of the net, where Marissa put it in.  Later in the period, a penalty on Tartan led to a power play goal for River Lakes, making the score 3-1 after two periods.  In the third period, goalie Maggie Straka turned away all shots and Tartan played solid defense to not allow River Lakes back in the game.  Game ended 3-1 in Tartan's favor with the game puck going to Maddie Ciolkosz for scoring her first high school career goal.  Go Titans!
