Kristen Dellich's 4 point effort leads T-G

The Eagles hosted the Fort Frances (Ontario) Muskies in Buffalo on the opening night of the Buffalo Bison Turkey Shoot Tournament.  The line of Allison Parnell, Kristen Dellich, and Abby Huber combined for 8 points, and Freshman Amelia Vosen scored her first Varsity goal to lead T-G to a 6-3 victory.

The first period was filled with a number of offensive scoring chances by both teams, with neither team able to capitalize.  With 1:42 remaining in the period, Fort Frances was whistled for a checking penalty and the Eagles wasted little time to take advantage of their opportunity.  Amelia Vosen scored just 17 into the powerplay, with the assists going to Molly Adam and Maddy Javorina.

Early in the second period, with T-G killing off a penalty, Kristen Dellich found Madi Lacy who beat Muskies goaltender Calie Clendenning to put the Eagles up 2-0.  Five minutes later, passes from Allison Parnell and Laura Minkoff to Kristen Dellich increased the T-G lead to 3-0.  At the 7:14 mark, Abby Huber notched her second goal of the season from a pretty passing play by Allison Parnell and Kristen Dellich.  The Eagles were up 4-0 and they looked like they might coast to an easy victory.  Fort Frances had other ideas.  The Muskies scored 3 quick goals in a span of 1:22 to close the gap to just 4-3 after 2 periods.  Although Fort Frances was still trailing, they seized the momentum heading into the third period.

The Muskies came out flying in the final frame and dominated play for the first 11 minutes of the period.  It looked like T-G was trying to cling to their 1 goal lead.  Eagles goaltender Logan Knip stopped a flurry of shots, making a key skate save midway through the period.  With just 5:48 remaining, T-G counter-attacked and Molly Adam redirected Katessa Archer's shot from the point to give the Eagles a 2 goal cushion.  Amelia Vosen also had an assist along with Katessa.  With Fort Frances having pulled their goaltender in the final minute, Abby Huber picked off a Muskies pass in the T-G zone and fed Kristen Dellich who skated down and put the puck into the empty net to provide the Eagles with their final margin of victory.  Shots for the game were 38-35 in favor of Fort Francis.

T-G will next host Red Wing on Tuesday night at 7:00pm at Parade Ice Garden.
