Dominant team performance leads to 3-0 shutout win

The Eagles got their first win of the season in impressive fashion.  Logan Knip earned her first varsity shutout and T-G outshot Rogers 43-14 in route to a 3-0 victory, The Eagles evened their record at 1-1-1 for the season.

T-G completely dominated the Royals in the first period, having the shot advantage of 16-2.  For all of their efforts and quality scoring chances, the period ended scoreless.

The Eagles were even more dominant in the second period, outshooting Rogers 19-2.  Royals junior goaltender Michelle Klimstra was sensational between the pipes, keeping the game deadlocked at zero through 2 periods.  Despite having a shooting advantage of 35-4 going into the second intermission, T-G could not find a way to solve the Rogers netminder.

Things would change in the third period.  After the Royals Captain, Mackenzie Perna was whistled for hooking, the Eagles seized their opportunity.  Just 24 seconds into the powerplay, Captain Abby Huber notched her first goal of the year, finally beating Klimstra on T-G's 36th shot with the assist going to Katessa Archer.  Three minutes later, Allison Parnell found the back of the net giving the Eagles a 2-0 cushion.  This goal seemed to ignite the Rogers team as they picked up their play and started to mount a furious attack.  Logan Knip kept the Royals off the scoreboard making a fine skate save on a 2-1.  When T-G was whistled for a penalty at the 10:09 mark, the Eagles chose to call their timeout to plan their penalty kill strategy.  Shortly after killing off this penalty, T-G found themselves shorthanded again.  Logan came up big during this powerplay making a great kick save on Rogers forward Emily Antony with just 6:45 remaining in the contest.  The Eagles were successful killing off this penalty and are a perfect 7-7 on the penalty kill this season.  T-G added one final goal at the 15:43 mark on Allison Parnell's second goal of the game and her team leading fourth goal of the season.  The assists went to Laura Minkoff and Katessa Archer.

The Eagles will next take on Fort Frances (Ontario) on Friday night at 8:00pm at the Buffalo Civic Center.  Please note this game moved from Saturday night to Friday night.
