Eagles unable to solve Alev Baysoy

Did you feel like it was deja vu all over again?  Last season, the Eagles opened their campaign against United and St. Paul came away with a 4-0 victory.  T-G again opened their 2012-2013 season against United and again when the dust settled, the Eagles were on the wrong side of a 4-0 score.

St. Paul took advantage of a turnover deep inside the T-G zone and converted it into a goal at the 3:28 mark of the first period.  From there, it turned into the Alev Baysoy show.  She increased the United lead to 2-0 with just 35 seconds remaining in the period.  Alev would add another goal in the second period and she completed her hat trick with a goal late in the third period to complete the scoring.

There were some bright spots for the Eagles in the game in that they won the face-off battle for the night 14-9.  This was an area that T-G had challenges with last season.  Freshman Amelia Vosen and Allison Parnell had solid games in their Varsity debuts.  Despite taking the loss, Logan Knip also had a strong game in net, stopping a number of close in scoring opportunities and she finished with 23 saves.

The Eagles will next take on Simley on Saturday at 3:00pm in their home opener at Parade Ice Garden.
