ALBERT LEA — Five different Huskies scored goals in Owatonna’s 5-0 shutout of Albert Lea on Thursday night.

Payton Noble scored first, just 1 minute, 51 seconds into the game. It would be the only goal of the first period, but certainly not the game.

Tess Heyer scored her first career goal at 12:59 of the second, and Makenzie Macy scored her first career goal as well to close the scoring in the third period.

But Noble’s goal was what got the Huskies heading in the right direction.

“We started out well,” said Huskies coach Tim Hunst. “One of things we ere looking to do was start out quickly. Scoring in first two minutes is starting quickly. It really did set the tone of the game.”

Hunst also said that Owatonna got better as the game went along.

“We played well in the first, better in the second, and didn’t show any signs of slowing down in the third,” Hunst said.

The Huskies (4-1 Big Nine, 4-3 overall) will play at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday against Rochester Century in another Big Nine game.

Thursday’s win was good preparation for the rest of the conference schedule that includes three Big nine games through Dec. 22.

“Everybody got a lot of playing time,” Hunst said. “Both goaltenders got in. It was a really good night for us.”
