Three Seniors Receive Scholarships

Three senior athletes will each receive a $1000 scholarship from the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association. All three recipients will also receive certificates acknowledging their accomplishments.

Charlie Stryker Scholarship

This Scholarship honors the memory of Charles P. Stryker, former St. Paul United Girls Head Coach, lifelong hockey player and youth coach, and girls’ hockey advocate. Charlie was known as a man of compassion and integrity. He was an early leader with the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association having served as the Executive Secretary and as the co-founder and developer of today’s Junior Festival.  He valued the traits of sportsmanship and team play in hockey, and this scholarship strives to promote those values so important to Charlie.

EXEC COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship focuses on the leadership and community service of the applicants. The recipient of this scholarship will have displayed throughout their high school years, a selflessness of character putting others’ needs in front of their own. This recipient will be a person of high moral values and ethical qualities with a desire to pass those traits on to others around them. One $1000.00 non-renewable scholarship will be awarded annually to one deserving senior female hockey player.

PREMIER PREP LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship opportunity is being made available by the Premier Prep League and is intended to honor one of our senior players. The Premier Prep League is an opportunity for kids to work on development, leadership and teamwork. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior player that exemplifies those qualities, as well as other intangibles in our beloved game. We want to honor a player that believes and embodies the notion that hockey is more than just X’s and O’s.
