The Mustangs came back from 2-1 and 3-2 deficits to beat Benilde 4-3 in Overtime and claim the Cake Eater Tourney Championship on Saturday evening.  Milica McMillen led the charge with a goal and three assists.  The Mustangs scored with 10 seconds left in regulation with an extra attacker on when McMillen sent a torpedo from the blue line and freshman Leah Schwartzman tipped it in under the top shelf to tie the game at 3-3.

Schwartzman’s goal capped a frantic third period where Breck out shot Benilde 18-7.  The rally continued into overtime where Schwartzman drew a holding call on Benilde giving Breck a rare overtime power play advantage.  The Mustangs controlled the puck in the Benilde zone, eventually getting the puck back to McMillen for a big slap shot, a rebound and a goal by senior Prentice Basten to start the celebration on the ice and in the stands.

Breck’s next game is Thursday, December 1, at Breck Arena versus the Rosemount Irish (1-2-1).
